Yarn Comparisons

Below you will find a reference chart comparing various brands of plush/ blanket yarn, specifically size or yarn, softness, yardage and hook sizes.

I'll be adding to this list as I test new yarns!

Yarns tested:
- Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles
- Bernat Blanket
- Bernat Baby Blanket
- Premier Parfait Chunky
- Hobbii Baby Snuggle
- Bernat Velvet
- James C Brett Flutterby Chunky

The yarn was tested by making simple balls. Each ball was made using the ball pattern as below:

Simple Ball Pattern

R1: 6 SC in a MR
R2: 6 inc (12)
R3: (SC, inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (2SC, inc) x 6 (24)
R5-7: 24SC
R8: (2SC, dec) x 6 (18)

  1. Have you ever used the Himalayan Dolphin Baby yarn. I bought a few patterns (different country designer) and she calls for that but says its a worsted weight. I don't think it is but not sure. I am wondering if my premier or the Hobbii will work as well? Thank you

  2. I know this post was a while ago, but have you ever tried loops and threads sweet snuggles lite? It is my favorite, thinner than sweet snuggles. I am wondering if it compares to your hobbii yarn. I am looking for more colors but I would like to continue to use the sweet snuggles lite, I am looking for something to mix with it. Any thoughts? Thank you!
